I also believe that they don't need special valvetrain. I can agree with that Tony, I have said many times don't go bigger than 2.02" with flat tappets due to valve weight unless you go 5/16". This engine has 10.7 to on compression, and I run it on 91 octane pump gas. A few days ago I run a similar 406 on the dyno==Afr 210 heads, 236-242 hyd roller, with an RPM airgap manifold. Shooting for 650 hp. However with those heads I would look for similar .050 duration with more lift on the 106 lsa. Now weâre taking what weâve learned from those mistakes and assembling some basic tips and guidelines to help you choose your cylinder heads wisely. The dart 230cc heads might do it, but would for sure with some work. With a similiar cam, comp. I'm building the 421 so I can get to 650hp without being as radical as the smaller engines I have built in the past. I can't see 650 being a problem at 421 cubes . If youâre still not sure why your old head gasket failed, itâs important to learn the reasons for head gasket failure before you get your engine repaired and put back together so you can avoid this in the future. I am leaning towards brodix dragon slayers. Heres a neat thing with most head companies.....the flow rates listed are what "could be" with work...out of box they dont hit those numbers. I think you figured out the problem. Chad recommended a $2500 set. Your bigger cam will get the peak right up where the hyd lifters are not too happy. The cam will maximize RAM Effect and fill cylinder for increase VE.
