While it’s not overly stiff by any means—it was comfortable enough to wear without any break-in period—the boot is noticeably more rigid underfoot than a lightweight shoe like the Merrell Moab 2. While this isn’t an ideal way to break in any hiking footwear, the Renegade proved to be comfortable straight away.
